Technical Writing for software packages

When I first used a help file provided with a software package, I had to click on too many hyperlinks and browse too many pages to get a small clarification. I realized that it wasn't written properly and that there existed ample scope for rewriting it.

At that time, it struck in my mind as why not to take the work of writing such help files on contract basis (or assignment basis). I started contacting small software development firms in Mumbai. Many of them didn't respond. A few of them responded and I could get two assignments, which I have already completed. These are on enterrpise accounting software package and a central excise related software package.
